Our History
We started spring of 2016, as grass-roots committee to bring back Gray’s annual summer festival which debuted just 3 months later. In 2017, the festival was rebranded as the ‘Gray Blueberry Festival’ – in honor of wild blueberry barrens/farms located in Gray and the surrounding towns – where youngsters once hand-picked wild Maine blueberries as their summer job. We also started partnering with the Wild Blueberry Commission of Maine.
We learned more about the heart & brain health benefits of adding wild Maine blueberries to your diet and importance of native & wild bees to pollinating our (nation’s) crops.
So, in 2022, we went ‘wild’ – rebranding this awesome annual event as the ‘Gray Wild Blueberry Festival’, with special thanks to UME’s New Media Department who created this dedicated website for our Festival. As you can probably tell by now, we try to outdo ourselves every year to make the Gray Wild Blueberry Festival a better experience for local residents and visitors. We can’t wait to host our next Gray Wild Blueberry Festival, always held on the second Saturday in August
